About me
I am a business-oriented risk specialist with fifteen years’ experience within the international payments sector, dispensing risk management awareness worldwide.
I started my career at First Data in the UK, where I quickly moved through the risk management ranks, learning the basics from the bests. I held roles primarily within the credit risk domain, which had become my core speciality.
In 2010, after being promoted to a managerial role, I moved to the Netherlands to take charge of the risk management function at European Merchant Services, a Dutch acquirer owned by First Data and ABN Amro.
Here I was able to increase my risk management skills in the fraud domain. But, more importantly, being EMS a large e-commerce acquirer (at the time), I grew beyond risk management and learned the commercial side of the digital payments industry.
In 2014, I joined PayU, an international PSP part of the Prosus group, as their Global Head of Risk and Internal Control. Here my risk management competencies expanded to include enterprise risk management, internal control, and internal audit.
The six years I spent at PayU allowed me to gain an extensive understanding of risk management in payments in emerging markets, from India to Colombia, from Russia to South Africa, subsequently also experiencing a vast range of considerably different cultures.
My experience at PayU transformed me into a senior leader able to work with any group of people. It also made me understand that relationships play a crucial role in successfully tackling risk management challenges.
After a very short stint at Mastercard, I decided to turn my attention to helping businesses engaged in payments with their risk management functions and strategies. So, I started providing consultancy services without being a consultant.
I love running. It is my yoga, as it helps me destress and make order in my thoughts. I have been running for over 20 years, and I have completed 30 full marathons. And counting!
I love mountains. I adore rock climbing, which I have been practising for over 15 years, both indoors and outdoors. A great activity also for learning risk management. The Dolomites are my favourite location for hiking and climbing.
